Américo Brasiliense is a Brazilian city in the state of São Paulo. The population in 2010 was 34,522. The area is 132.832 km².
This city is also known as Cidade Doçura ("sweetness city"), because its perimeter is surrounded by sugar cane plantations, which form the basis for its economy. This is supported by cheap labor from emigrants from northeastern states, mainly from Bahia.
Many people often go to the nearest cities of that region such as Araraquara, Santa Lúcia and Rincão on weekend nights, while others stay in the town hall's public squares or go out with friends to snack bars.
